Day 1: Barcelona on zero sleep

We made it!!!  After some uncertainty about if we would even get out of Toronto due to a major spring ice wind and rain storm...we are here in sunny Barcelona!
The time change is six hours ahead of you in Ontario and eight hours ahead of the Alberta folk.

Our car is a sweet VW golf...white and new.   We are looking for a name if you have any ideas.

So far we feel lukewarm about the city. This is what we have learned so far:

  •  The buildings are neat and old
  • Our flat is in a great spot within walking distance to anything.  We got lost on all outings today and feel like we got to see a lot of the city
  • Crowds of people!  If this isn't peak season, I can't imagine it in the summer.  The beaches are just completely jammed with people and so are the very narrow streets
  • Very touristy and americanized ...McDonalds,  Starbuck, burger King etc on most streets
  • Booze is very cheap at the grocery stores
  • The sandwiches are amazing and a baguette is a must have accessory
  • Most shops and restaurants closed before 5 and most people don't get up and running until after lunch
We are going to go enjoy the sunset and have a drink on our patio and plan our day tomorrow!

Love from Barcelona

PS: we are still not an aunt and uncle yet!
